Parent Behavior Management Services
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is a unique treatment program that focuses on promoting positive parent-child relationships and interactions, and teaching parents effective child management skills. It is an empirically-supported treatment that utilizes a live-coaching model wherein parents are in a therapy room with their child while the therapist is in an observation room watching via one-way mirror and/or live video feed. The parent wears a ‘bug-in-the ear’ device through which the therapist coaches the parent live on the skills being learned in treatment. The most appropriate referrals are children between the ages of 2 – 7 years who are exhibiting a broad range of presenting problems due to noncompliance, defiance, ADHD, impulsivity, physical and verbal aggression, destructive behavior, abuse and neglect, attachment problems, and low self-esteem.
Behavioral Parent Training is an evidence-based treatment for parents who have children or teens with problem behavior. Programs are designed to help parents learn effective behavior management techniques to increase positive interactions with their child, reduce the occurrence of their child’s challenging behavior, and increase appropriate responses.
Our programs draw upon research-supported manuals and treatment protocols from the fields of behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy and applied behavior analysis.
